We currently have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Lead Dev Ops Engineer to join Royal London Group on a permanent basis in Edinburgh or Nether Alderley.

 

 

Role Purpose

A Lead Dev Ops Engineer will provide extensive business and deep technical expertise to help teams design, develop, test and implement efficient automation solutions that meet business and customer requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist others in resolving complex technical problems, investigating the root cause of problems and recommend solutions.
  • Deliver complex technical solutions which support the business strategy
  • Provide deep technical consultancy and serve as subject matter expert for Automation and associated technologies
  • Deliver and continuously evolve a foundational Automation platform governed by appropriate policy to allow for safe delivery of automated services within Royal London
  • Research and evaluate emerging automation technologies and proactively recommend areas where they can bring business value.
  • Establish secure and sound engineering practices for the team to deliver superior quality output Participate in the development and review of standards, best practices, documentation and methods of working with Automation technologies leveraged by the organisation
  • Provide advice on technical aspects of automation and ensure that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices are applied correctly
  • Consider a broad range of options and apply sound judgement to develop solutions
  • Ensure automation platforms are managed to the satisfaction of the business, reporting on performance metrics, and looking for opportunities to continuously improve
  • Participates in peer reviews of deliverables and carries out formal and informal reviews of technical designs, standards, documentation and/or implementations
  • Influence direction at a senior level
  • Coaches and leads others in acquiring knowledge

 

Essential Criteria

  • Extensive IT industry experience
  • Deep technical knowledge of and a broad working experience with industry recognised automation platforms such as Microsoft Orchestrator, Ansible & Azure Automation.
  • Some delivery experience of designing, building and operating automation services within a medium to large enterprise.
  • Ability to contribute to an automation strategy
  • Excellent communication, prioritisation, problem solving and relationship building skills

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Ideally candidates will have experience/comfortable working in an agile environment
  • An excellent communicator and comfortable liaising with stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience of administering Windows or Linux systems
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Comfortable working independently and within a team environment
