We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Lead Test Analyst to join the Application & Test Services team based in Edinburgh.

You will be responsible for managing and planning of the system and acceptance tests within a specialist team. You will provide authoritative advice and guidance to a team of ten testers and will be responsible for three project areas. You will have a strong high level overview of each project area and will be assisting with process improvements across these areas.


What will you be doing

  • Responsible for overseeing the planning and management of the testing activities.
  • Responsible for the production and approval of testing deliverables and achievement of testing milestones.
  • Co-ordinates all activities and testers during each testing phase.
  • Co-operates with clients/users and stakeholders to agree the testing strategy to be employed.
  • Directs and carries out investigations to assess and advise on the practicality of testing process alternatives.
  • Identifies improvements to the process and assists in their implementation.
  • Manages all risks associated with the testing and takes preventative action when any risks become unacceptable.
  • Provides authoritative advice and guidance to colleagues on any aspect of test planning and execution.
  • Establishes and plans the automated testing strategy for the project providing a platform for the testing team to automate previously manual scripts.
  • Leads Motivate and Mentor the Test Analysts in the team.



What we’re looking for

  • A strong test leader who has experience of leading multiple small projects
  • Ability to influence and drive change across projects and drive new ways of working and testing early in the development lifecycle
  • Skilled in writing and implementing test approaches
  • Experience of using and leading teams using automated test tools. Style of management
  • Experience of working with delivery partners.
  • Ability to understand the needs, objectives and constraints of those in other disciplines and functions 


Skills that will help you in the role

  • Ability to progress against targets, report and escalating exceptions/issues as necessary and take action to resolve exceptions.
  • Is proficient in the principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of the testing process and the execution of tests throughout the lifecycle of development projects.  Is proficient in methods and techniques for the assessment and management of business risk.
  • Ability to influence positive change to the test services practice.
  • Has experience of an application, process or product that benefits the test team. eg Protection/Pensions Financial Services testing background
