Role purpose

During an exciting period of growth for the business the RLAM Finance team are recruiting for a qualified accountant to join their financial reporting and control team.  The role is an interesting hybrid of financial control work and process improvement along with key involvement in a significant project to implement the new Investment Firm Prudential Regime (IFPR) for the RLAM business.


Key responsibilities


Month End Accounting

  • Review the month end close ensuring that legal entity positions and figures used in the management accounts are accurate
  • Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Propose and implement process and control improvements to allow a quicker month-end close that is more controlled.
  • Be involved in other aspects of month end as required


Regulatory reporting

  • Provide support during regulatory reporting periods
  • Propose process improvements to increase efficiency and controls associated with the regulatory returns


Project work

  • Assist in the implementation of the Investment firm regime (IFPR) to ensure that a robust process is developed.  This will require working with a number of key stakeholders including; Risk, Finance, RLAM Operations, Compliance and the change team.
  • Support the finance transformation project, ensuring that key process are documented and non-value adding processes are identified and removed


Essential Criteria

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) 
  • Strong accounting experience gained within the asset management industry.  Experience within an insurance owned asset manager would be an advantage. 
  • Strong Excel skills essential. 
  • Demonstrable experience of improving existing processes and developing new processes.


Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of Oracle ledger would be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills. 
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, taking ownership and responsibility
  • Tenacious and ‘can do’ attitude
  • Willingness to challenge and contribute to change
  • Thorough approach and attention to detail
  • Manage relationships effectively with senior internal and external stakeholders
