We are currently looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our highly regarded Group Legal Team on an interim basis in London. This role will complement a team of in-house lawyers who provide strategic legal advice, guidance, and support across Royal London’s Asset Management business.

 

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team where you will undertake a range of legal activities, using your knowledge to support the Asset Management division whilst developing key relationships with colleagues across the wider Royal London Group. In this role, you will benefit from working alongside experienced legal professionals who champion development and continuous learning.

 

About the role

 

  • Provide proactive strategic legal advice and support to various internal stakeholders on a range of asset management activity, in particular with respect to property funds.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal documents. 
  • Manage and mitigate legal risks, identify potential issues, and provide proactive solutions.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel, as necessary, and in a cost-effective manner. 
  • Taking accountability for obtaining advice, challenge where appropriate and interpret and communicate external legal advice in a commercial and strategic manner for the Royal London Group.
  • Undertake business partnering as delegated by the divisional counsel for specific areas of the asset management division.

 

About you

 

  • Qualified solicitor with experience advising stakeholders within an Asset Management business.
  • Practical experience covering a wide range of legal matters.
  • Solid awareness of the principles of corporate governance, FCA/PRA regulations and impact on the RL Group.
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and a proven track record working in a fast-moving environment. 
  • Familiarity and previous experience with UK focused funds.
  • Solid awareness of the principles of corporate governance, FCA/PRA regulations and impact on the RL Group.
  • Property fund experience is desirable.
