About the role

We are looking for a Senior PR Strategy Manager to join our Policy and Communications team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of PR Managers, working with the Head of External Communications, to develop and deliver a PR strategy to support and drive Royal London’s growth ambitions on behalf of its members and customers. You will lead the strategy, working closely with the business and third-party agencies, to support business units and contribute to profile-raising and influencing key audience groups.  You will contribute towards building, managing and protecting the company reputation. 


Key responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of the Group-wide PR strategy
  • Working with the Head of External Communications, lead the development of the PR strategy, ensuring it supports the commercial goals of the business and reflects the Group’s wider Purpose and strategy
  • Lead a team of PR Managers to deliver key elements of the PR strategy and a drum beat of activity resulting in positive, on message coverage in the national, broadcast and trade press
  • Support proactive media relations programme across the team, ensuring that positive and productive relationships are built with a range of trade, personal finance, consumer, business, city, news and other journalists
  • Lead and manage proactive and compelling issue-led campaigns which help build the profile of the Royal London Group and demonstrate thought leadership




  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Financial services PR experience, including in asset management and life and pensions
  • Experience of leading and managing teams
  • Experience of delivering a Group-wide PR strategy
  • Experience of delivering PR campaigns which target opinion formers.


N.B The press office operates a media rota system, and therefore there will be some out of hours work on occasion.
