Role purpose

We are currently looking to recruit a Solution Architect to join our team on a permanent basis. The main purpose of the role is to assist in determining and implementing RLAM technology strategies in accordance with business requirements


Key responsibilities

  • To lead the end to end solution design for major / complex multipart programmes.
  • To be the recognised lead for the strategy for specified solution domains for RLAM, ensuring leadership is provided to committees/business leaders and programmes for those domains.
  • To ensure that existing strategic technology is fully exploited before further investment is recommended. 
  • To be responsible for ensuring designs adhere to the strategic design governance framework.
  • Maintain an overall view of current and future state technology architecture.
  • Contribute to the direction of the RLAM IT Strategy through influencing design decisions.
  • Lead, facilitate and participate in Technical Design workshops
  • Perform QA of proposed design solutions
  • Ensure key business risks are fully understood, controlled and mitigated on the team to ensure local plans are delivered and we meet our regulatory requirements
  • Ensure key controls are tested and maintained.
  • Ensure Risk Events are reported, investigated and reported in accordance with the Risk Event & Escalation process


Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience working within Application Development e.g. Microsoft Stack or as a solutions architect previously
  • Experience working within a regulated environment
  • Strong understanding of technology design methods and approaches.
  • Strong understanding of implementing service oriented architecture (SOA) in on-premise, Cloud and hybrid models
  • Pragmatic and strategic view of new technology adoption
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Understanding of database technology (both SQL and NoSQL), messaging platforms (MQ) and reporting solutions
  • Determined and self-motivated; prepared to take appropriate steps to ensure a successful outcome of their work.
  • Highly analytical mindset and comfortable working within a team environment


Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working within an Asset Management firm previously
  • Knowledge of Investment Management Platforms
  • Experience utilising TOGAF
