The purpose of the role is to develop Royal London’s strategy to generate value from mortality and morbidity risk.

 

As a recognised mortality / morbidity expert provide advice on Royal London’s mortality / morbidity basis.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Develop a strategy based on a market leading understanding of mortality / morbidity risk, including pricing for the risk.
  • Identify further opportunities to generate value from Mortality / Morbidity Risk
  • Ensure that the mortality / morbidity strategy is appropriately reflected in the risk appetite
  • Seen as the expert on mortality / morbidity within Royal London and use this expertise to advice the business on its approach to retaining the risk.
  • Ensure the mortality / morbidity strategy is embedded within the business
  • Support re-insurance team and business units in the development of any propositions with related mortality / morbidity risk
  • Design and support the implementation of modelling capability required to understand the risk implications of mortality / morbidity risk and the capital implications of this risk.

 

Essential Criteria

  • A fellow of the Faculty and Institute of Actuaries
  • Experienced, with in-depth knowledge regarding re-insurance pricing for the risk.
  • Largely works autonomously from their people leader
  • Proven track record for delivering projects.
  • Wide external network, enabling Royal London to leverage from insights into emerging market practice.
  • Good communication skills and ability to engage with senior stakeholders, as well as the wider business.
  • Ability to generate innovate / industry leading ideas that add significant value to the business.
  • Commercially minded.
  • Ability to deliver a range of deliverables in parallel, including major projects
  • Ability to engage with the wider business, in a professional manner.
  • Ability to provide robust challenge in a constructive manner but combined with ability to work effectively with those being challenged in order to solve problems.

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Preference is for an individual who has worked for a re-insurer pricing Protection business.
