Role purpose

The Investment Accounting team is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the assets reported in our statutory and regulatory returns. The team provides oversight of the outsourced Investment accounting provider on behalf of the group in order to provide assurance around valuation uncertainty and ensure appropriate investment accounting controls and expertise have been used.

 

This role requires technical knowledge based on experience in investment accounting, understanding of related data, processes, statutory and regulatory requirements alongside the ability to build strong relationships with our 3rd party suppliers.

 

The role will require travel between Edinburgh, London, Nether Alderley, and other 3rd party sites as and when required.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for the maintenance of the investment control environment, ensuring comprehensive periodic reporting, extensive investment asset data and service oversight and accurate and timely reporting. 
  • Provide assurance around valuation data provided by 3rd party providers alongside ensuring appropriate investment accounting controls and expertise.
  • Engaging with internal and external asset managers and various governance committees. There will be a requirement using the current engagement model to engage with the outsourced investment accounting providers and external data providers.

 

Essential Criteria

  • Qualified Accountant.
  • Strong investment accounting experience and knowledge.
  • Strong insurance accounting experience and knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent investment analytical and technical skills.
  • Excellent relationship building skills.
  • Strong people management skills.

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Strong problem solving & decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues across internal and external parties including the Technical Team.
