We have a unique opportunity to offer a new Senior Project Manager role aligned to Digital within the Chief Operating Office that will help shape the future of Royal London.
Our Chief Operating Office (COO) works across Royal London to help deliver the Group’s strategic ambitions. We work in partnership to deliver operational excellence, drive innovation, enhance customer experience, and protect our business from threats impacting our industry.
We are the largest business unit within Royal London, bringing together thousands of colleagues to look after millions of customers to deliver great outcomes for customers. Our business focuses on aligning colleagues, applications and projects with our three business value streams: Long Term Savings, Protection & Equity Release, and Long-Standing Customers & Annuities, led by our Chief Information Officers, our Shared Service Platforms and Enabling Teams. This role sits within the Digital Office.
One of Royal London’s strategic goals is to be a ‘Digital-First’ organisation with a frictionless customer experience. As a member of the Digital team, you will help realise this ambition. Our projects will improve the customer journeys on our Mobile application and both customer and adviser web portal journeys as well as projects to increase efficiency of our operations. You will be part of an exciting, growing team.
About the role
- Manage complex initiatives that span one or multiple lines of business
- Full project life cycle management from initiation to deployment, with proven ability to operate at different stages of the project cycle simultaneously.
- Provide leadership for project team by coaching and motivating team members to meet project goals, to ensure they realise their potential
- Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership
- Understand interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs
- Promote continuous improvement by actively engaging within colleagues across COO and other areas of Royal London.
- Build a collaborative, commercial relationship with 3rd parties to manage costs and maximise value.
- The role will lead and / or People Manage technical resources comprising internal, contract and supplier resource.
- Matrix management across multiple disciplines - BAs, developers, testers, technical resources, third parties and business SMEs.
About you
- Proven track record of successful project and programme delivery, ideally in a Financial Services environment.
- Experience of building and leading high performing teams, creating a supportive environment to maximise colleague contribution and engagement.
- Highly competent in use of planning tools and experienced in operating financial and risk control frameworks in a project setting.
- Proactivity and future thinking around the management and control of programme/project costs and benefits.
- Strong stakeholder management experience at all levels up to C-suite.
- Thorough understanding of different project delivery methodologies and ways of working and able to adopt the most suitable approach to a given project.
- A self-starter, able to work with minimum supervision or direction.
