A Data Engineer will define, manage, and deliver the data, tools, and technical assets for analytics, data science, and machine learning projects. These initiatives will generate insights, solve business problems, and support decision-making at all levels. They will support the Senior Data Engineer in setting technical standards and act as an internal SME for data engineering and analytics.

The team aims to create business value through specific projects, support other teams with data services, and serve as a Centre of Excellence in Analytics and Data Science, advancing the Group’s data-led ambitions.

 

About the role

 

  • Source, evaluate, interpret, and manage multiple disparate data sources for Analytics and Data Science projects. Understand, own, and manage the team’s data, collaborating with business, GTC, and external partners.
  • Design, develop, and productionize data engineering pipelines and other solutions, ensuring they are available for the data science and visualization team.
  • Prototype solutions to explore business hypotheses in an agile and iterative manner, supporting a learn fast/fail fast methodology.
  • Maintain and bring best practices in data engineering, machine learning engineering, and data-related technologies into the team. Stay updated with new developments and changes in the field.
  • Ensure robust software engineering practices are adhered to by the team.

 

About you

 

  • Proven track record in successfully completing cross-functional projects and managing stakeholders.
  • Broad understanding of BI and analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, R, Python) and Microsoft SQL Server technologies (e.g., T-SQL, SSIS).
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g., C family, Java, Scala, Julia) and applying analytics and data science techniques (e.g., predictive modeling, data mining).
  • Expertise in data engineering, including data management design (e.g., data lakes, data warehouses) and cloud-based technologies (e.g., Azure Data Factory, DataBricks).
  • Knowledge of the technology side of analytics and data science, including software engineering principles.
