We are seeking an experienced Actuarial Data Lead to join our team in Alderley Edge. You will play a crucial role in managing and analysing data to support actuarial initiatives and drive business decisions, with a focus on pensions de-risking projects. Your technical expertise and strong analytical skills will contribute to the overall success of our team.

 

In this role, you will collaborate closely with actuaries and other stakeholders to design, develop and implement data transformation processes. You will work with system administration and technology teams to manage the integration of bulk purchase annuity scheme data into actuarial valuation models, from buy in to data cleanse and buy out.

 

Additionally, you will actively participate in cross-functional projects, providing leadership and guidance to a team of actuaries and data analysts.

 

The role will sit within the Actuarial Systems & Development Data Team which develops, tests, and maintains actuarial data processes, supporting asset and liability model input creation, experience investigations and with-profits management. The team also provides support to various data driven projects across Royal London.

About the role

 

  • Manage the provision of and/or provide specialist actuarial data advice and analysis required by the Group, either as a technical expert or through the management of a team of actuarial professionals.
  • To design and develop strategic actuarial data solutions for valuation of new products or resulting from business-led system changes.
  • Manage the integration of bulk purchase annuity scheme data into actuarial valuation models, from buy in to data cleanse and buy out.
  • Provide leadership and management to a team of actuaries, actuarial trainees, and actuarial technicians.
  • Carry out financial analysis using complex actuarial and analytical techniques to support team, department or wider business planning and other activities as required.

 

About you

 

  • Relevant experience working with actuarial and financial data.
  • Excellent Defined Benefit pension knowledge with experience of working with scheme data and administration systems.
  • In-depth understanding of actuarial concepts and techniques required to fulfil the role.
  • Highly proficient in manipulation of large data sets and a keen interest in programming with experience in SQL or similar.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with colleagues and senior managers across the department, wider business and to third parties.
  • Excellent understanding of life and pensions products including competitors’ products.
