Job Title: Strategic Development Lead

Contract Type: Permanent  

Location:  Remote – preferably based within easy reach of London      

Working style: Hybrid – 50% home / office based

We’re looking for a Strategic Development Lead to help shape and deliver our Distribution strategy within the Chief Commercial Office. This is an exciting opportunity to drive sustainable growth across the UK financial advice market by expanding Royal London’s reach and influence. You’ll play a pivotal role in identifying and securing new commercial relationships, representing Royal London at senior levels, and ensuring our propositions remain market‑leading across wealth, long‑term savings and protection channels.

 

About the role

 

  • Build, secure and nurture new business relationships across a broad range of intermediaries and financial services organisations.
  • Lead the acquisition process from tender through to pitch presentations, ensuring a consultative and customer‑focused approach.
  • Represent Royal London as a trusted partner, championing our propositions and delivering exceptional presentations to senior and executive audiences.
  • Identify new strategic opportunities through market insight, data analysis and ongoing review of the financial planning landscape.
  • Collaborate extensively with teams across Distribution, Proposition, Marketing and Royal London Asset Management to deliver strategic priorities.
  • Spot and develop opportunities to deepen and diversify partnerships, contributing to sustainable long‑term growth.

 

About you

  • Extensive experience in senior business development roles within financial services, with a strong track record of delivering results at executive level.
  • Deep understanding of wealth advice business models, competitor propositions and the wider financial services marketplace.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and deliver compelling presentations to varied audiences.
  • Highly consultative approach with excellent negotiation skills and an ability to thrive in a results‑driven environment.
  • Exceptional organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively across a varied workload.
  • QCF Level 4 qualified (minimum) with strong technical understanding of financial products, advice processes and adviser technology.
