A guide to getting started in your new role

The feeling's mutual

Your first day

We know starting a new job can be nerve wracking. Let us help put you at ease.

Your People Leader or buddy will make sure you know where all the facilities are and any tips to help you find your way around.

If we can support you with any reasonable adjustments, we’ll do everything we can to help. You’ll be able to let us know how when you complete your onboarding information.

Over the following days and weeks, you’ll get to know the other areas of the building you work in and possibly visit other office locations, if appropriate.

You’ll be given guidance and support to learn about the products, services, systems and procedures that will be an integral part of your work.

Your induction

As part of your induction to Royal London, we’ll make sure you have all the information you may need to feel part of the company from day one. You’ll also be invited to book on our next available group induction day. Use our induction checklist to help you make sure you’re all set for your new role.

You and your People Leader

You’ll have regular one-to-one conversations with your People Leader. They’re a time to connect, check in on your wellbeing and to discuss your progress towards your goals and development goals. Your check-ins will be forward-looking, collaborative and will also cover challenges, concerns or where you need support to help you.

Continuous development - learning, growth and progress - is important for us all. Every day we can learn through connecting with others, being open and curious and taking action from feedback. Development goals will be unique to you. Your People Leader will help you define your development plan and support you to create your development goals.

"Good luck in your new role! You'll get an email from me on your first day with some more information and an invitation to book onto one of our upcoming induction days."
