Meet Shikha

Principal Architect

Shikha is our Principal Architect in Digital Services, leading the Digital Architecture function with creativity and strategic insight. With over 17 years in engineering and technology, she thrives on solving complex challenges and driving innovation. Passionate about people and progress, Shikha values continuous learning and collaboration across the business. Since joining, she’s led our architecture function for transformative initiatives, including new contact centre technology and AI-driven solutions. What makes Shikha proud to work at Royal London is our inclusive culture and shared Purpose. Empowered to lead boldly, she brings energy, vision and authenticity to everything - from mentoring teams to representing us externally with pride.

Meet Yusuf

Degree Apprentice

Yusuf is a Degree Apprentice studying digital and technology solutions. As part of the Community of Engineering Practice team, he plays a key role in expanding our collaboration platforms like SharePoint and Viva Engage. Passionate about learning, Yusuf thrives on discovering new technologies and building connections across the business. A natural leader, he’s also led a team to develop a presentation for Inspirational People in Technology. Yusuf believes our culture is exceptional where colleagues consistently uphold our values - whether offering support during challenging tasks or embracing new ideas.

Meet Helen

Technical Lead

Helen is a Technical Lead in our Mobile App team, bringing over two decades of IT experience to her role. With a background in development and management, she oversees the technical delivery across Apple, Android and integration layers. Her work is dynamic and collaborative, shaped by a team that thrives on shared success. Helen values how we respond to challenges - focusing on solutions and supporting one another. She’s proud to work in a culture where values are lived, not just written. With a strong emphasis on learning, balance and opportunity, Helen finds real fulfilment in our ever-evolving technical landscape.

Meet Kristen

Major Incident Command Centre Lead

Kristen is our Major Incident Command Centre Lead, a role introduced to coordinate and control major incidents across Royal London by ensuring swift decision making and rapid responses. Her team’s purpose is to protect business continuity by managing incidents effectively, minimising disruption, ensuring clear communication and restoring essential services quickly. Enthusiastic about diversity and inclusion (D&I), Kristen is a founding member of our technology D&I group and sits on our PRIDE Network’s steering committee. She thrives on continuous learning, people management and driving new initiatives. What makes Royal London special for Kristen is our mutuality, customer focus and the empowering culture that enables ideas to flourish and teams to grow together.

Meet Ayomide

Degree Apprentice

Ayo is a Degree Apprentice, combining creativity and logic to build impactful solutions. Originally studying building technology, he pivoted into tech out of a fascination with how technology shapes our lives. Now part of our Software Quality Improvement Team, Ayo has contributed to projects like the Community of Engineering Practice directory, helping connect teams and share knowledge. With a growing skillset in automation, continuous improvement and development, and Azure DevOps, he thrives on learning while making a real difference. Royal London’s supportive culture empowers Ayo to take ownership, explore new ideas, and grow as both a developer and collaborator.

Meet Amy

Platform Engineer

Amy recently completed a Digital and Technology Solutions apprenticeship with first-class honours and now works as a Platform Engineer. Passionate about automation and cloud services, she develops solutions that streamline workflows and enhance efficiency. Amy collaborates across teams to solve technical challenges, elevate the developer experience and ensure platform reliability at scale. She thrives on supporting colleagues, mentoring apprentices and contributing to our Women in Technology and Sustainability communities. Amy led a successful migration project that delivered significant cost savings - an achievement she’s proud of. What stands out most for her is our culture of support, learning and belonging – an environment that has empowered her to grow, contribute meaningfully and shape her future with confidence. Outside of work, Amy loves gardening, embroidery and baking. She’s also a huge fan of Formula 1 and enjoys following the races throughout the season.
