Job Description
Controls Analyst

Contract type: Permanent
Location: Alderley Park
Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based
Closing date: 21st May 2026

We’re looking for a Controls Analyst to join Royal London’s First Line Controls Oversight team and play a key role in our compliance with the UK Corporate Governance Code. You will own key parts of our end-to-end control population management, assessment and testing cycle, working across finance, risk, audit, and the wider business to produce clear reporting and drive improvements. If you enjoy combining strong control knowledge with stakeholder engagement—and like the idea of using automation and tools to make processes more efficient—this is a great opportunity to make a tangible impact.

About the role

  • Lead key elements of end-to-end compliance with requirements of the UK Corporate Governance code, including planning, delivery, and quality of outputs.
  • Manage and maintain Royal London’s material control population, ensuring changes are documented, approved, and supported by a clear audit trail.
  • Coordinate and perform control assessment and testing activity, ensuring evidence is complete and appropriate for audit and review.
  • Produce accurate, timely reporting for key governance forums (including Audit Committee), clearly articulating status, findings, and actions.
  • Partner with stakeholders across finance, risk, audit, and the business to drive remediation actions through to closure.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and robustness of reporting and assessment processes, using automation and tooling where appropriate.

About you

  • Experience in audit, risk, controls testing or operating a controls framework (ideally within financial services).
  • Strong understanding of risk and control concepts, including how to evidence design and operating effectiveness.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships, influence, and coordinate activity across multiple teams.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities across a busy annual cycle.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint) to analyse, track and present information clearly.
  • An improvement mindset, with interest and experience in using automation tools (and/or AI) to reduce manual effort and improve consistency.
  • Qualified Accountant or Actuary, although strong relevant experience will be considered.
