Royal London Asset Management is seeking an Assistant Development Manager to play a hands‑on, support‑focused role within its Front Office Property team.
This is a key role, providing day‑to‑day assistance across a wide range of property development and refurbishment projects. We’re looking for self- motivated candidates with a keen interest in development, that want to contribute to the success of the team and are capable of assisting or leading projects at different stages of the development lifecycle, from feasibility to completion.
You’ll work across multiple projects, helping ensure developments are well‑organised, commercially sound and delivered in line with strategy and sustainability objectives.
About the role
- Subject to project size and complexity will either assist or lead project across RLAM Property teams through all elements of the Project through concept viability, planning, design, development, delivery, sales, marketing and leasing.
- Focused on the financial performance of projects, tracking targeted level of development returns (profit on cost % and IRR) and ensuring appropriate inputs (value, cost and time) are captured in the development appraisal.
- Deliver all Projects in accordance with RLAM’s sustainability policies.
- Support existing administrative, reporting and other processes and help improve those processes where appropriate.
- Prepare, maintain and monitor budget and cashflow for each Project. Prepare and maintain project accounts.
- Ensure Projects are completed within approved budgets and approval is obtained for all project capital expenditure in accordance with department procedures and policy.
About you
- MRICS (or equivalent professional qualification/experience)
- Initial understanding of the Town Planning system
- Initial knowledge and understanding about sustainability, environmental and social responsibility issues
- Understanding of property valuation methodology including investment and residual appraisals, or financial modelling and DCFs
- Keen interest in development and the development process
- Embryonic market facing profile and with evidence of junior networking relevant national and regional professional, investment and agency businesses/associations
- Some negotiating skills, decision making ability and judgement.
- Ability to communicate with people (individually and in team situations) and give clear instructions verbally and in writing
- Ability to form, develop and maintain relationships dealing with a wealth of stakeholders; strong influencing, diplomacy and collaboration skills.
- Analytical and evaluation proficiency; capable of thinking strategically whilst also detail orientated.
- Good report writing and presentational skills. An ability to work well under pressure with limited direct guidance.
