Job Description

Job Title: Data Management Lead

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: London

Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based (one Friday a month)

Closing date: 7th January 2025

 

We are looking to hire a passionate and experienced Data Management professional to support the objectives of the RLAM Data team.  This role delivers best in class data management services to the RLAM business functions and change, acting a direct point of contact for data-related matters and supporting RLAM deliver a data led approach to creating business value.

 

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring effective management of data through tasks such as creating, maintaining and monitoring Data Quality dashboards and managing and resolving data issues.  You will work closely with Change to provide data subject matter expertise into projects and ensure enterprise data standards are embedded.  You will have a growth mindset and desire to deliver process improvements through innovation and automation.

About the role

 

  • Represent Data Management in Change initiatives, providing subject matter expertise in defined project activities and agile squads.
  • Evolve the Data Assurance function to create, maintain and monitor data quality across all domains.
  • Provide the business with subject matter expertise in relation to data, including asset specific expertise.
  • The Data Management Lead will work within a team of five data analysts and collaborates closely with colleagues in Front Office, Operations, Change, and Technology teams. This structure provides a strong support network across the business.
  • Undertake data management operational processes, including but not limited to those related to setup, maintenance and enrichment of investment data across multiple domains. (eg portfolios, securities, benchmarks) 
  • Ensure data issues are managed, logged and resolved in a timely manner.  Oversee that SLAs are embedded and met.  Ensure issues are effectively communicated and reported back to stakeholders and senior management. 
  • Develop, coach and mentor team members as required to ensure they have the required data management skills.
  • Evolve and implement data management processes and systems as designed to grow the business and help colleagues understand and use data.
  • Actively improve data services, refining processes and procedures to support assets effectively.
  • Understand the impact of change to Data Operational Services and manage impacts accordingly with relevant stakeholders.
  • Success in this role is measured by timely and effective resolution of data issues, positive feedback from stakeholders, and improvements in the data quality/observability. These clear goals ensure alignment with Royal London’s priorities.

 

 

About you

 

  • A vibrant personality with a genuine interest in data related business and technology current affairs
  • A desire to succeed and excited and motivated to work in “Data” and able to evangelise the benefits of taking a data led approach to creating business value.
  • Previous strong experience in managing data within an asset management - including knowledge of core data domains - Security, portfolio, transaction, benchmark, reference data, performance, client, investment vehicles.
  • Knowledge of the trade lifecycle and data types used in asset management and investment instruments including – equities, fixed income, multi asset, property, collective investment schemes, ETF and OTC derivatives
  • Experience of driving forward Data management practises and principles – including data quality, data issues, data ownership, data architecture, data access, data documentation, data controls & processes.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of the asset management business, front, middle and back-office functions.
  • Experience in working in change delivery projects or squads.  Working to agreed project plans and milestones and reporting progress effectively.
  • Ability to develop data requirements and use cases with stakeholders – working closely with BAs
  • Experience in Blackrock Aladdin
  • Experienced in managing data related risks, controls, and associated actions in a regulatory environment
  • Excellent organisational skills, ability to prioritise and balance multiple activities simultaneously and work under minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to confidently present information with credibility and personality.
  • Ability to challenge effectively – confident in speaking in meetings in order to ensure data best practice is embedded.
  • Analytical and Growth mindset, attention to detail, proactive problem-solving.
  • Experience in Data related tools, including: advanced excel,  Power BI, Power Automate and exploiting data in Databases using SQL (including Snowflake, SQL Server)
