Role Overview
The Senior Protection Proposition Executive plays a key role in the development, governance, and ongoing optimisation of Royal London Ireland’s Protection Propositions. This role requires strong technical expertise, and independent judgement to ensure propositions deliver good customer outcomes.
A key part of the role is to ensure proposition activity is managed within agreed risk appetite, with clear oversight of conduct and operational risks, and robust controls embedded across the product lifecycle.
Role Purpose
To support the end‑to‑end management of Royal London Ireland’s Protection propositions, ensuring products remain compliant, competitive, clearly communicated and aligned to regulatory and customer outcome expectations.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the development, enhancement and periodic review of Protection propositions.
- Own and maintain customer and broker facing proposition literature.
- Support new product initiatives, material changes and proposition enhancements through governance and approval processes.
- Ensure propositions meet Irish regulatory requirements, including CPC expectations and customer disclosure standards.
- Work closely with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Actuarial, Marketing, Operations and Distribution teams.
- Deliver broker training and proposition promotion sessions.
- Provide expert technical product support to brokers and internal stakeholders.
Key Relationships
- Protection Proposition Lead and wider Product/Proposition team.
- Distribution, Sales and Broker Relationship Management teams; and external financial brokers/intermediaries.
- Underwriting and Claims teams (including technical and quality functions).
- Actuarial and Finance (pricing, experience analysis, reserving and profitability).
- Risk, Compliance, Legal and Company Secretariat (governance, regulatory engagement and approvals).
- Operations and Customer Service teams (process, service, complaints and customer outcomes).
- Marketing (proposition messaging, communications and training materials).
Governance and Regulatory Responsibilities
- Maintain effective risk and control ownership for proposition processes, ensuring controls are designed, documented and operated in line with the Risk Management Framework.
- Complete risk assessments for product changes, communications and distribution activity, escalating material issues and supporting approval papers with clear risk commentary.
- Contribute to risk reviews (including thematic reviews) and provide input to Risk and Compliance on proposition performance, control effectiveness and key decisions.
Skills, Experience and Knowledge
Essential
- Qualified Financial Adviser (QFA) – completed and in good standing.
- Experience in proposition, product or technical roles.
- Strong understanding of Irish protection products and broker‑led distribution.
- Experience operating within formal governance and approval frameworks.
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills with high attention to detail.
