Job Title: Head of Long-Term Savings Commercials

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow or Alderley Park

Working Style: Hybrid 50% home/office based

 

We have an outstanding opportunity for a Head of Long-Term Savings Commercials to join our UK Commercials team. This is a pivotal leadership role driving commercial transformation across Royal London’s long-term savings portfolio; including workplace pensions, individual pensions, and ISAs.


The team is at the heart of strategic change, leading the evolution of commercial strategy, pricing, and performance insight. We simplify complexity, unlock value, and deliver sustainable growth through data-driven decisions and innovative commercial frameworks.

This is a strategic leadership role reporting to the Commercial Director. The role holder will be accountable for:

 

  • Set the vision for long-term savings commercials, defining and delivering a strategy that drives growth, competitiveness, and alignment with Group objectives.
  • Lead transformation of pricing and commercial frameworks, embedding agility and innovation across workplace pensions, individual pensions, and ISAs.
  • Drive commercial performance through insight-led pricing, market analysis, and quality initiatives in partnership with Finance, COO, and senior stakeholders.
  • Simplify and consolidate commercial insight and reporting, ensuring clarity and transitioning elements to sustainable long-term solutions.
  • Deliver efficiency and uplift through automation, streamlined processes, and data-driven interventions that enable faster, smarter decisions.
  • Inspire and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of commercial acumen, continuous improvement, and collaboration.

 

This role is central to shaping Royal London’s commercial future, ensuring our activities are disciplined, insight-led, and transformative – enabling clarity, focus, and impact across the UK business.

 

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Relevant qualifications and experiences in actuarial, finance, or commercially driven roles; with the ability to apply structured thinking, financial rigour and strategic insight to commercial decision-making.
  • Extensive experience in commercial management, product commercials, and pricing strategy within long-term savings.
  • Proven ability to design and implement commercial and pricing models, frameworks, and tools in a complex organisation.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end pension and annuity processes, financial planning, and commercial metrics.
  • Deep analytical skills; able to interpret complex commercial and financial data and communicate clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Expertise in stakeholder management, influencing, and cross-functional leadership.
  • Track record of delivering commercial uplift and efficiency improvements through process and technology interventions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to distil complexity for strategic and operational audiences.
  • Commitment to best practice and continuous improvement in commercial management.
  • Strategic leadership and vision, with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
  • Commercial acumen and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Resilience and adaptability in a dynamic, changing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence at all levels.
