We are looking for an experienced Product Owner with deep expertise in the UK workplace pensions market to shape and lead our employer proposition. This role sits at the heart of Royal London’s Workplace Future programme, one of our key strategic priorities and a significant investment focused on strengthening our market position and delivering market-leading experiences for employers, advisers and members.
You will lead a squad and take accountability for reimagining the employer experience across onboarding, servicing and engagement. Using market insight, customer understanding and an external perspective on innovation trends, you will define and deliver differentiated propositions that meet the evolving needs of employers and support Royal London’s growth ambitions
About the role
- Leadership role in the design, development and delivery of Royal London’s future workplace proposition.
- Prioritises the most important customer, adviser and employer problems using data, insight and commercial understanding, ensuring alignment to Royal London’s purpose, workplace growth strategy and wider business value.
- Takes accountability for end-to-end proposition outcomes, prioritisation decisions, successful market launch and commercial results, working closely with the Delivery Manager to support effective squad delivery.
- A catalyst for change, works collaboratively with other Product Owners and squads across Royal London to deliver new propositions to market.
- Articulates the future workplace vision, and priorities, to internal and external stakeholders.
- Understands risk responsibilities to ensure appropriate governance processes are followed and regulatory (TPR and FCA) and audit requirements are met.
About you
- A track record of leading cross-functional readiness for market launch, working with distribution, marketing and wider business teams to ensure propositions are tested, the strategic narrative is joined up, and the business is ready to maximise commercial potential.
- Deep experience in the UK workplace pensions market, with a strong understanding of employer proposition design and the needs of employers and advisers, including onboarding, governance and payroll.
- A strong understanding of automatic enrolment, The Pensions Regulator (TPR) requirements and FCA regulation would be beneficial, alongside experience of engaging with regulatory developments and expectations.
- Brings strong commercial acumen, with experience of understanding customer and financial dynamics, building compelling business cases for investment, and owning OKRs aligned to wider programme OKRs.
- Experience of leading and coaching people having led teams both directly and through matrix, defining the team’s roles and responsibilities.
- Track record of managing product development governance and conduct risk in line with risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
