Royal London is looking for a Technical Lead to provide application services to internal clients. This role involves selecting tools, managing vendors, and overseeing the technical roadmap for a moderately complex platform across various business units. The goal is to ensure continuous improvements in availability, currency, and commerciality, all contributing to our mission of enhancing customer choice.

About the Role

  • Provides guidance and expertise to their team on the methods and tools needed to implement changes through the applications and platforms they oversee.
  • Manages problem resolution and incident support for their platform, ensuring technical upgrades and maintenance are scheduled in collaboration with third-party vendors.
  • Builds and maintains trusting relationships with key stakeholders and internal customers, ensuring the team’s performance meets key deliverables and quality benchmarks.
  • Oversees the performance of third-party vendors against contractual obligations and SLAs and manages the recruitment and performance of their team members.
  •  Identifies opportunities to leverage new platform capabilities to add value to the business and customers and contributes to MTP planning and portfolio shaping activities across the Group.

 

 

About You

 

  • Assist senior leaders in implementing and embedding the Risk Management System (RMS) and understand how Risk Appetite statements apply to the business area.
  • Ensure key business risks are fully understood, controlled, and mitigated to meet local plans and regulatory requirements. Regularly test key controls and report, investigate, and escalate Risk Events as per the process.
  • Complete all mandatory training and apply risk management techniques in daily tasks. Ensure familiarity with all risk and data governance policies, including GDPR, and follow all related rules.
  • Produce regular risk reports to demonstrate effective management. Regularly test control frameworks, agree on improvement plans, and ensure no significant unknown risks or weaknesses are identified in Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit reports.
  • Manage any identified risks according to current policies, seek policy waivers when necessary, and ensure risk-themed reviews do not reveal any material unknown risks or weaknesses.
  • Develop and submit scenarios and stress tests to Group Risk & Compliance (GR&C) to aid in capital calculations.
