A high-impact leadership opportunity within Royal London’s Business Finance Leadership team.
As Head of Financial Planning & Analysis you are responsible for financial planning, forecasting and performance measurement for the Royal London Group. Owning the production of the Group Business Plan and shaping how these outcomes are communicated to senior stakeholders. Working closely with the Group CFO and senior leaders, you will provide clear financial direction, robust challenge and decision support.
You will lead and develop a high-performing team, delivering regular and ad-hoc insight and the reporting that tells our financial story. You will drive innovation through process improvement and use of technology, and You will champion an inclusive, collaborative culture across the Business Finance Team.
As a Finance Senior Leader, you will help set the direction for the function and lead across teams to deliver strategic outcomes.
About the role
Reporting to the Business Finance Director, responsibilities include:
• Ownership of the business planning process and outputs, including stakeholder engagement and inputs, annual Board proposals and twice-yearly Forecasts
• Coordination of planning and reporting activities across Royal London’s business units (UK, Ireland and Asset Management)
• Delivery of monthly performance analysis and reporting against the Business Plan, Forecasts and incentive plan targets
• Providing strategic support to the CFO in order to optimise operating results
• Preparing the communication of quarterly profit metrics, half-year and full-year profit disclosures, including in our Report & Accounts and external presentations
• Delivery of regular and ad-hoc financial analysis, including allocation of costs to business activities, products and entities
• Leading a team of professional colleagues to develop talent, maintain efficient and well-controlled working practices and inspire innovation
• Responsibility for providing financial leadership and appropriate challenge across Royal London as a trusted adviser in pursuit of our short-term plans and strategic objectives.
About you
For this senior leadership role, you will bring:
• Significant senior FP&A leadership experience within UK Life & Pensions —applying strong commercial judgement to improve performance and outcomes.
• Deep understanding of UK Life & Pensions accounting, actuarial concepts and the regulatory environment
• Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, and to drive change across complex stakeholder groups
• Executive presence with the ability to simplify complex messages and influence at ExCo/Board level
• Commitment to continuous improvement across processes.
• A desire to continue your professional development as the business and industry evolves
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, creating strong, trusted relationships with Executives, peers, the finance community and non-finance leaders—aligning priorities and enabling delivery.
