This is a great opportunity to move into a senior analyst role within the Investment Office. You will be responsible for undertaking analysis and ongoing oversight of our Asset Managers. Working in the Investment Performance team, you will play a leading role in the successful oversight of the Group’s assets and associated assessment of the Asset Managers we invest with. The role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to oversee, monitor, analyse and report on investment performance across the Group’s investment assets.
The Investment Office team sits within Group Finance and is responsible for delivering in line with the Group’s investment philosophy and beliefs, including setting, and executing the Group’s investment strategy, appointing, and overseeing asset managers, and selected execution activity on over £100bn of assets on behalf of our customers and members.
About the role
• Assess Asset Managers investment performance across multiple asset classes, regions and sectors relative to:
-Strategic Asset Allocation outcomes
-Tactical Asset Allocation outcomes
-Performance benchmarks and risk measures
-Competing providers
• Plan and undertake reviews of investment portfolios, across a range of asset classes, notably equities, fixed income and private assets. Including the assessment of Investment philosophy, process, people and performance.
• Use market analysis and insight to investigate and challenge areas where performance is out of line with expectations.
• Run day-to-day performance oversight processes and tasks in line with the approved Investment Office performance framework.
• Produce and / or actively contribute to investment reports, papers, and presentations to drive forward key Investment Office initiatives.
About you
• Strong understanding of investment performance and risk assessment methodologies and metrics.
• Experience assessing investment performance preferably across different investment vehicles including segregated mandates, Unit Linked funds, OEICs, Unit Trusts etc.
• Ability to understand, interrogate and analyse financial and market data, attribute and understand impacts on investment returns, including peer group analysis.
• Ability to produce high quality succinct written market commentary and investment reports.
• Strong knowledge of Excel, Aladdin and/or Lipper preferable.
• A relevant degree, CISI or CFA qualifications.
