Job Title: Senior Strategy Manager
Contract Type:  Permanent
Location: London, or Edinburgh, or Alderley Park
Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based
Closing date: 6th March 2026

We are seeking an experienced Senior Strategy Manager to join Royal London’s Group Strategy team, part of the CEO Office and a key driver of the organisation’s long term direction. Royal London is advancing an ambitious, purpose led strategy designed to deliver long term value for customers, members, and society.

In this role, you will help shape and influence the Group’s key strategic decisions. You will work closely with the Group CEO, Group Executive Committee and senior business leaders, bringing external insight, structured thinking and rigour to the challenges and opportunities that matter most. This is a high impact position suited to individuals with strong strategic problem solving capability, excellent stakeholder skills, and a deep interest in how purpose driven financial services organisations create sustainable competitive advantage.

About the role
•    Lead high value strategic projects that address priority opportunities or challenges for the Group - framing the problem, generating insight, developing options, and creating clear, actionable recommendations.
•    Synthesize external market, competitive and regulatory intelligence, ensuring Royal London anticipates and responds effectively to trends shaping the Life, Pensions, Workplace and broader long term savings landscape.
•    Work in close partnership with internal experts—including Research, Insight, Finance, Proposition, Distribution and other functions - to ensure recommendations are grounded in robust evidence and customer understanding.
•    Bring structure and strategic discipline through the practical application of frameworks, hypothesis driven analysis, and insight led storytelling.
•    Develop strategic recommendations for the Group Executive and Board, clearly articulating trade offs, risks, and alignment with our Purpose and long term ambition.
Support and refine the Group’s strategic processes, including the annual strategy review, strategic risk management, and enterprise wide strategy communication and engagement.
•    Act as a strategic advisor to business units, providing challenge, clarity and support to local strategy development and execution.

About you
•    Deep understanding of Life insurance, Workplace pensions, and/or the broader long term savings market, with an ability to connect emerging trends to implications for Royal London.
•    Consulting calibre problem solving skills—you structure ambiguity, create clarity, and generate high quality insight at pace.
•    Strategic storytelling, able to distil complex information into crisp, compelling messages and executive ready presentations.
•    Strong quantitative and analytical capability, with confidence interrogating data, sizing opportunities, and evaluating strategic options.
•    Proven experience of strategy development or execution, either within a financial services firm or top tier consulting environment.
•    Excellent project and stakeholder management skills, adept at influencing senior leaders and navigating cross functional teams.
•    Intellectual curiosity, a growth mindset, and genuine interest in customer needs, market dynamics, and the evolving competitive landscape.
•    Commitment to purpose driven strategy, demonstrating alignment with Royal London’s values—Empowered, Trustworthy, Collaborative and Achieve.
•    Understanding of risk management frameworks, and how these support sustainable, well governed strategy execution.
