Tell us a little bit about yourself, Nicky.

I’m a mum of three, so I come to work for a break! I’ve been at Royal London for almost four years and started as a Practice Lead in the Group Technology team. Since last year I’ve been working as a Tech Lead based in Alderley Park.

What does your job involve day-to-day?

My role is quite varied, which is why I like it. The majority of my time is working with our Engineering and Release teams in Value Enhancement, looking at improvements and efficiencies.  I also work with our project team engaging with new projects and delivering for our business.

As a Tech Lead, I’m a People Leader so I work with my team members to achieve their goals and listen to their thoughts while sharing updates to them from the different areas within the company.

I also work with our Technology and Operations apprentices. I really enjoy this part of my role as there are so many ways we can work together to drive the company forward. Along with my day-to-day role, I’m a Mental Health First Aider, part of the Social Responsibility team and volunteer through the fabulous Tutormate scheme.

How do you help Royal London to fulfil its Purpose?

By looking at how our squads can become more efficient at delivery. We’re investing in improvements to make things slicker and reactive to change while providing a better service to our internal customers, who are then able to provide a better service to Royal London customers.

Being able to work with colleagues on their aspirations drives change and ideas which allows them to invest in themselves and, in turn, Royal London benefits from their skills and empowerment.

Tell us why you’re proud to work at Royal London.

I believe that Royal London is a company for people, whether that be its colleagues or its customers. The investment and support given to employees is phenomenal which in turn shows in the service our customers receive. Being a mutual is our unique selling point which drives decisions made at all levels.
