We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior AI System Engineer to join Royal London’s Group Data & AI Office. You’ll help turn our AI ideas into practical, secure, well-governed solutions that support better outcomes for our customers and colleagues.
You’ll take senior technical ownership of Copilot Studio configuration, functional enablement and day-to-day service operation. This is a senior individual contributor role within our AI and Advanced Analytics Team, providing technical direction and mentoring without assumed line-management responsibility. Your focus is the service layer and creator experience.
About the role
- Shape the Copilot Studio roadmap and configuration standards, balancing creator needs, security, control requirements, cost and maintainability.
- Design reusable patterns, templates and components, and lead approved connectors and integrations with enterprise APIs, services, tools and data sources.
- Lead Agentic Ops monitoring and ongoing operation of AI agent using telemetry, inventories and dashboards to understand adoption, performance, capacity, cost, risk and service health.
- Improve the agent lifecycle, from creator onboarding and development through publishing, release, operation, change and retirement.
- Lead complex diagnosis across Copilot Studio, connectors, identities and connected services, coordinating incident resolution and lasting corrective action.
- Embed responsible AI, information security, data protection, least-privilege access and resilience into service design. Maintain configuration baselines, approvals, control evidence and operational acceptance criteria.
- Coach engineers and agent creators, improve self-service support and collaborate with product, governance, architecture, cyber security, data, risk, infrastructure, service management and supplier colleagues.
- Assess emerging capabilities and use feedback, telemetry and lessons learned to guide controlled adoption. Support audit and assurance, complete mandatory learning and escalate security, privacy, customer or control concerns promptly.
About you
- Hands-on expertise in Microsoft Copilot Studio and supporting Power Platform capabilities, with the judgement to guide functional architecture and complex configuration decisions.
- Practical knowledge of environments, solutions, security roles, authentication, data policies, connectors, custom connectors, publishing and lifecycle management.
- Experience designing governed enterprise integrations, assessing connector and data movement risks, and assuring production readiness.
- Experience of service operations, observability, incident and problem management, change control, runbooks and operational documentation. You can define useful measures and investigate issues across Microsoft 365, Power Platform and connected services.
- An understanding of information security, data protection, auditability, responsible AI and risk management in a regulated organisation.
- The ability to translate user needs into maintainable configuration and distinguish service-layer issues from underlying infrastructure problems.
- A collaborative approach to technical leadership, coaching and influencing across teams, with clear communication for technical and non-technical colleagues.
- A thoughtful, analytical approach to incomplete evidence and competing priorities, combining curiosity, customer and creator focus, and a willingness to challenge unsafe or poorly controlled approaches.
