Working Style: Hybrid - 50% from home / 50% office based

We’re investing in our Digital Engineering capability and are looking for three Technical Specialists to help shape the future of our customer and colleague-facing technology. These newly created roles will provide deep technical expertise across multiple teams, helping solve complex challenges, guide best practice and influence future technology direction. You’ll join as a specialist in one of the following areas: Mobile Development, Web Development, or Authentication and Authorisation. You’ll work across a broad portfolio of services, including mobile applications, web portals, Identity and Access Management, Contact Centre services and emerging adviser experience platforms.

About you:

We’re looking for collaborative technical experts who enjoy working across teams, building relationships and helping others solve complex engineering problems. You’ll be comfortable providing consultancy and guidance, influencing stakeholders and translating technical concepts for different audiences. You may already be operating at this level, or you may be ready to step into a broader role where you can have more influence across platforms, standards and engineering practices.

What you’ll be doing:

As a Technical Specialist, you’ll use your expertise to support teams across Digital Engineering, helping shape technical decisions and strengthen capability across the function.

  • Provide deep technical expertise in your specialist area.

  • Support multiple engineering teams across Digital.

  • Help shape technology strategy, standards and roadmap decisions.

  • Promote best practice, reusable patterns and consistent approaches.

  • Provide consultancy and design support for complex technical challenges.

  • Coach and upskill colleagues to build technical capability.

  • Stay close to emerging technology trends, standards and industry developments.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and quickly understand unfamiliar codebases.

  • Experience explaining technical concepts clearly to different audiences.

  • Knowledge of relevant architectural patterns within your technical domain.

  • Experience applying accessibility standards.

  • Confidence working across multiple teams and managing changing priorities.

  • A relationship-led approach, with the ability to influence and support colleagues across Digital.

Specialist experience:

  • Mobile Development: Expert-level Kotlin or Swift skills, with experience in the alternative language. React Native experience would be highly desirable.

  • Web Development: Expert-level HTML, JavaScript and CSS. Angular and TypeScript experience would be highly desirable.

  • Authentication and Authorisation: Expert knowledge of OAuth2.0, OIDC and authentication concepts. Experience integrating authentication flows into mobile and web applications would be highly desirable.

What’s in it for you?

This is an opportunity to move into a high-impact technical role where your expertise will influence multiple teams, platforms and future technology decisions. You’ll help shape engineering standards, support business-critical services and play an important part in our continued investment in Digital Engineering. Financial services experience is not essential. We’re more interested in your technical depth, curiosity and ability to collaborate across teams.
