Claims Team Leader

Location: Dublin/Hybrid, 50% home/office based

We're looking for an experienced Claims Team Leader to lead our Claims function, combining strong people leadership with deep technical claims expertise to ensure customers receive timely, consistent and compassionate support.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role within our Underwriting & Claims team, driving operational excellence, developing team capability and helping shape the future of our claims proposition.

 

About the role

As Claims Team Leader, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the Claims function, ensuring high standards of customer service, quality, governance and regulatory compliance. You'll act as a senior technical referral point for complex and sensitive claims, while leading and developing a team focused on delivering excellent customer outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, coaching and developing all claims colleagues.
  • Managing claims service delivery, workload planning and operational performance.
  • Acting as the senior referral point for complex, sensitive and high-value claims.
  • Providing technical guidance on claims assessment, retrospective underwriting and claims philosophy.
  • Overseeing claims quality assurance, governance and continuous improvement activities.
  • Building strong relationships with reinsurers, brokers, medical experts and internal stakeholders.
  • Using data and management information to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Supporting regulatory, system, service and process change initiatives.
  • Embedding a strong risk and compliance culture across the Claims team.
  • Ensuring customers receive fair, timely and consistent claims decisions.

 

About you

We're looking for an experienced claims professional who enjoys leading people, developing capability and improving customer outcomes.

You'll ideally bring:

  • Significant experience in life and disability claims assessment.
  • Previous leadership, team management or coaching experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge across protection and disability claims.
  • Experience managing complex claims and supporting technical referrals.
  • Knowledge of Irish regulatory requirements and the insurance claims environment.
  • The ability to analyse data, identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A collaborative and inclusive leadership style.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to balance operational priorities and strategic initiatives.

 

Qualifications

You will hold, or be working towards, an appropriate professional qualification such as:

  • DLDC (Diploma in Life and Disability Claims)
  • ACII
  • QFA (including APA)

Equivalent industry qualifications and relevant claims expertise will also be considered.

Our approach to compensation is designed to help us attract, inspire and retain the best talent. We aim to pay employees fairly and competitively across all levels and roles. The base salary range for this position is:

€68,400 – €94,050

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; and qualifications. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.   

Base salary is only one component of our total package. Other rewards include participation in a discretionary bonus scheme and a comprehensive benefits package and pension.
