Job Summary
We are looking for a hands-on Technical Lead to join Royal London and help shape the future of our Protection applications. You will lead developers and testers to design, build and run high-quality technology solutions that support our customers and colleagues.
This role is ideal for someone with proven experience in both technical and people leadership, combining hands-on expertise in .NET and other technologies with the ability to guide engineering decisions, coach teams and deliver scalable, resilient solutions.
About the role
- You will lead a team of development and quality engineers to deliver high quality solutions
- You will provide problem management and incident resolution capability (production support) for the platform they are responsible for.
- Build trusting relationships with key stakeholders and internal customers and 3rd party vendor(s).
- Provides expertise to their team on the methods and tools needed to deliver change through the platform.
- Ensure required technical upgrades and maintenance are scheduled, working closely with relevant 3rd party vendor(s).
- You will manage the team’s performance against key deliverables and measures quality against agreed internal benchmarks.
- Inputs to financial planning and portfolio shaping activities across the Group. Will lead with recruitment of permanent and flexible resource.
- Promote operational resilience and security to guarantee that both our internal systems and those managed by third parties consistently meet required standards and intended purposes.
About you
- Will have sound, broad knowledge of IT.
- Be an expert in application development techniques and methods. In-depth knowledge of application design and development best practices in one or more development languages, preferably .net or java
- Ability to apply specialist knowledge to solve complex problems.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience of successfully leading technical teams, both work and line management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- ITIL methodology knowledge preferred
