Summer Internship – Technology, Data and AI

Royal London is the UK’s largest mutual life, pensions and investment company. We’re owned by our members and work for their benefit, not shareholder profits, and that makes us different.

We're looking for creative problem-solvers who are passionate about technology, engineering, data and AI. Join our ten-week Summer Internship Programme and gain hands-on experience applying these skills to real business challenges, while helping to shape products and services that support our colleagues and customers.

With technology, engineering, data and AI embedded across every part of Royal London, placement opportunities span the full breadth of the Group. Tell us about your interests, strengths and aspirations in your cover letter and we'll do our best to match you to a placement where you'll continue to learn, grow and make an impact.

What you’ll get:

  • Competitive salary: £24,900 pro-rata
  • Generous pension: double matching up to 14%
  • Life assurance: 8x your salary
  • 24/7 confidential support: health, legal and financial advice
  • Hybrid working: with great office facilities and flexibility
  • Dedicated support: from a People Leader and Buddy
  • Learning & development: networking, training and mentoring
  • Future opportunities: apply for permanent roles or our 2027/8 graduate intake

What you’ll be doing

You'll be part of a supportive, inclusive and collaborative team, contributing to meaningful work that makes a real difference for our customers, members and communities.

With support and coaching from your People Leader, you’ll gain hands-on experience of life at Royal London, take ownership of meaningful pieces of work and contribute to real business priorities. Depending on your placement, you could use technology, engineering, data and AI to help Royal London:

  • Create better products, services and experiences for customers and colleagues
  • Use data and insight to support decision-making and improve outcomes
  • Respond to change, manage risk and meet legal and regulatory requirements
  • Improve efficiency, productivity and business performance through innovation and automation
  • Design, build and improve technology platforms, systems and solutions that support customers and enable the business to operate effectively

Working alongside experienced colleagues, you'll develop valuable professional skills, behaviours and commercial awareness while building your confidence in the workplace. You'll collaborate across teams, analyse information, solve problems and contribute fresh perspectives, gaining exposure to how technology, engineering, data and AI are applied across a wide range of roles, disciplines and business areas throughout Royal London.

Throughout the ten-week programme, you'll also work as part of a wider intern cohort on a group project, bringing together your learning and insights to develop recommendations that you’ll present to senior leaders at the end of the internship.
